About this app and who we are
Bowlslink (the "App", Android package au.com.memberpoint.bowls.now) is published on Google Play and the Apple App Store by DBL Solutions Pty Ltd (ABN 97 125 815 929), Unit 35, 328 Reserve Road, Cheltenham VIC 3192, Australia, under the developer name Member Point ("we", "us").
We publish and maintain the App on behalf of Bowls Australia Limited (ABN 65 427 736 644) ("Bowls Australia"). The App is the mobile version of BowlsLink, Bowls Australia's membership and competition platform, which is developed and operated by [DBL Solutions Pty Ltd / Member Point Pty Ltd (ABN 71 614 777 141)] on behalf of Bowls Australia. Bowls Australia is responsible for the personal information held in BowlsLink.
This policy explains how the App handles personal information. For how Bowls Australia collects and uses personal information more broadly, see the Bowls Australia Privacy Policy.
Information the App collects
The App connects directly to BowlsLink. Depending on the features you use, the following information is sent to or retrieved from BowlsLink:
- Account and login details: the email address and password you use to sign up or sign in to BowlsLink.
- Profile information: your name, email address, mobile number[, postal address, membership number, profile photo] and the clubs you belong to, which you can view and update in the App. Your date of birth and gender are also shown in your profile; these can only be changed by your club.
- Competition information: competitions you enter or manage, teams, entries and results.
- Payment information: if you pay competition entry fees in the App, your card details are processed by our payment provider, Pin Payments. We do not store your full card details. We keep a record of your payments and entries.
- Location (optional): if you choose to find clubs or competitions near you and grant location permission, the App uses your device's [approximate / precise] location to show nearby results. Your location is sent to BowlsLink only to perform the search and is [not stored or linked to your account]. You can use the App without granting location permission.
- Camera (optional): if you scan a QR code (for example, to enter a competition), the App uses your camera to read the code on your device. Camera images are not stored or sent to us.
The App does not access your contacts, photos or microphone.
How this information is used
We use this information to:
- create and manage your BowlsLink account and profile;
- let you enter, manage, pay for and view competitions and results;
- show clubs and competitions near you, when you choose to;
- display sponsor content arranged for competitions; and
- operate, secure and maintain the App.
Sharing
Information in BowlsLink is available to Bowls Australia, State and Territory associations and your clubs, in line with the Bowls Australia Privacy Policy. Competition results, including player names, may be published and are searchable in the App and on BowlsLink results pages.
We use service providers to operate the App: Amazon Web Services for hosting, and Pin Payments for payment processing. They may only use the information to provide their services.
We do not sell personal information or share it with advertisers.
Advertising and sponsorship
The App displays advertising and sponsor content, which may vary by competition, as arranged by Bowls Australia, State and Territory associations or competition organisers. This content is delivered through BowlsLink. Your personal information is not used to target advertising and is not shared with advertisers.
Third-party content
The App provides access to news, live-streamed and recorded competitions, and the online bowls shop. Live streams and recordings are played using YouTube and Vimeo, and the shop is provided by a third party and may open within the App or in your web browser. These services may collect information about your use of them under their own privacy policies, including Google's (for YouTube) and Vimeo's. We are not responsible for how they handle your information.
Storage, security and retention
Information is held in BowlsLink, which is hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS) in Australia. Information is sent between the App and BowlsLink over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. The App keeps a secure sign-in token on your device so you stay logged in; signing out or uninstalling the App removes it.
Your account and profile information is kept while your account is active. Competition results and payment records form part of official competition and financial records and are kept in line with Bowls Australia's requirements and the law.
Your choices
You can turn off location and camera access at any time in your device settings. The App will continue to work, but nearby search and QR code scanning will not be available.
Junior members
The App is intended for bowls club members, officials, fans and, for junior members, their parents or guardians. Competition results may include the names of junior players. Junior members' information is handled in line with the Bowls Australia Privacy Policy, including its provisions on collecting information about children from a parent or other responsible person.
Access, correction and account deletion
You can view and update most of your profile in the App at any time. Your club can update details you cannot change yourself.
You can request deletion of your BowlsLink account and associated data at any time, either from the App ([menu path, e.g. Profile > Delete my account]) or online at [deletion request page URL]. We will work with your club and Bowls Australia to action your request. Some information, such as official competition results and payment records, may need to be kept to meet competition and legal record-keeping requirements.
